Cheerleading

Dear Prospective MJHS Cheerleaders and Parents/Guardians,
My name is Otty Farris, and I am the coach for the MJHS cheer squad. I am sending out information to anyone interested in participating in cheerleading next year at McCormick. Cheer is open to anyone who wants to participate and is considered a full-year activity, therefore, if students plan to participate in multiple sports, they won’t be able to cheer due to too many schedule conflicts and not having sufficient time to learn routines and safely participate in stunts.
For those who do plan to cheer, we will be participating in a camp this summer in conjunction with Central High School on August 3 & 4. This is an optional camp where the team will learn critical stunting skills and have the chance to work with professionals at the camp. This is also where we learn our dance and cheer for our showcase performance. The camp will cost approximately $207.
In addition, there are some other costs associated with cheerleading that each participant needs to pay. These costs include poms, a team bow, t-shirt, sweatshirt, briefs, etc. The total for all of these items comes to around $105 this year. Participants will also need to purchase cheer shoes on their own. I would like to put in the order for all supplies by the middle of June in order to ensure that all items will be here in time for camp and fall sports. I will send out more specifics on the items once I have a roster.
I am including a form for you to complete with some information that I will need in order to start planning for camp and the fall. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
