Schedule Pick-up

Dear McCormick Families,

 Schedule Pick Up will be held on Tuesday, August 4th and Wednesday, August 5th from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm. Due to COVID-19 we will be observing social distancing restrictions and safety precautions.  Tuesday, August 4, 2020 will be reserved for 8th graders to complete schedule pick up and Wednesday, August 5, 2020 will be reserved for 7th graders.  The schedule below shows the times in which students are welcome in the building.   We are asking that only one adult accompany their student for this process.  Students are welcome to come alone if you prefer.  Everyone will enter the building through the front doors.  Each student and adult will be required to wear a mask, complete a temperature check upon entering the building and answer a health questionnaire.  Students will not be assigned lockers during the 2020-2021 school year.  Therefore, students will pick up their printed schedule, return required forms and take their school picture.  Touring the building is not available at this time.

If the designated time does not work for you and your family, we have 7:00 am – 7:30 am and 3:30 pm – 4:00 pm each day.  These time slots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.  We have to cap these times at 50 students and their adult guest.  Please call McCormick (771-2650) to make your reservation.

If the designated schedule pick up time does not work, and the additional slots do not work, please call McCormick to make arrangements for a time sometime between August 6, 2020 and August 14, 2020.

If you are not comfortable coming in to the building you may access your student’s schedule through their Infinite Campus Portal starting Tuesday, August 4, 2020.  We would appreciate you bringing the forms to the building, but we will have individuals out front, in masks, who will take your forms outside and/or verify your address.  We will schedule a picture make up day with our photographers for the fall.

After the check-in process in the lobby, we will ask your student to walk to the cafeteria to get their printed schedule.  Please remind them to observe social distancing.

Included in this mailing are forms that will need to be completed prior to the schedule pick up time and returned during this event.  These forms include Student demographic sheet, Weapons Policy, and Human Sexuality Health unit opt-out form.   Incoming 7th graders will also be asked to verify their address.  Acceptable documents for address verification are: Black Hills Energy bill, lease agreement, or mortgage statement. Please review the student demographic sheet, check for accuracy and make any changes. 

Once your student’s schedule has been picked up in the cafeteria, we are asking you to walk to the small gym and return the forms.  After forms are returned and addresses are verified, we are asking you to move to the large gym, take your school picture for the year and then exit the building through the gym door.

Schedule changes will not be done in person this year.  If you have a specific request for a schedule change, you may email Mrs. Tina Troudt (tina.troudt@laramie1.org), Associate Principal, Mrs. Christine Cockley (christine.cockley@laramie1.org), 7th Grade Counselor or Mr. Matt Staheli (matthew.staheli@laramie1.org), 8th Grade Counselor.  We will get back to you either through email or phone.  Schedule changes will happen from August 4 until August 14.

Students who have enrolled at McCormick during the summer will be given an appointment with their grade level counselor.  We are asking that the student and one adult accompany the student attend the meeting.  We ask that you remain in your car until the counselor calls you to come into the building.  The counselor will meet you in the lobby where you will complete your temperature screening and health survey.  Masks will need to be worn during the meeting as well.

Fall athletics including football, volleyball and cross country are scheduled to start on Monday, August 17, 2020.  Please visit our website at mccormick.laramie1.org for practice and parent meeting times.  This information is subject to change.

With the return to school on August 24th, there will be safety precautions implemented to ensure the safety of our students and staff members.  Due to the fluidity of information regarding COVID-19, McCormick Administration is currently working on a re-entry plan that will address such issues as face coverings, temperature checks, symptom checks, athletics, etc.  It is our desire for our re-entry plan to be based upon the most current information and/or mandates.  We are currently finalizing our school plan/protocols and will release it once it is approved by district level leadership.
