Student Senate News

Food Drive

McCormick’s Student Senate has been in full swing for the last month and a half. Having welcomed our new 7th and 8th grade representatives and elected our officers, we jumped in feet first to take the lead on our Thanks-4-Giving campaign.

A challenge was extended by Renee Dreher, School Social Worker at McCormick JHS and Central HS, to all three junior high schools to see who could gather the most food items for Needs, Inc. for the upcoming holidays.  Carey “out gathered” us and collected 3000 food items.   McCormick came in second and collected 900 items and Johnson placed third with 804 items collected. We don’t mind coming in second place this time for such a good cause.  Next year will be the year of the Warrior!

Winter Dance

On Friday, December 6th from 6:00-8:00 p.m.,  Student Senate will be hosting the Winter Wonderland Dance in our cafeteria. Admission is $3.00 at the door with a valid school I.D. If a student bought a book during the Book Fair, they get in free of charge, and we have their names on a list from Ms. Olson in the Library.  Please arrive promptly at 8:00 p.m. to pick your student up from the dance.

If you are interested in chaperoning this dance, please contact the office or email Jason Cook at  You will need to have your driver’s license scanned at the reception desk before 3:00 p.m. on December 6th so that a visitor/volunteer badge can be printed.

Spirit Week

December 9th - 13th is Spirit week.  There will be a  Student-Faculty Volleyball game on Tuesday, December 17th from 3:00 - 4:15 p.m.  There will be a $1.00 charge for admission and concessions will be available.  The Faculty will put their undefeated title on the line again, and perhaps this will be the year the Students claim the top spot!

Hello McCormick parents! As we continue through our sports seasons, please remember that The Wyoming High School Activities Association and McCormick Jr. High School wants to remind you that good sportsmanship is one of the primary purposes of educational athletics. Our student-athletes and coaches recognize that judgment calls by officials, coaches, and themselves, are made in good faith and should be respected. Spectators can support both of these teams by refraining from derogatory or demeaning comments and cheers today.  Please represent your community, your school and yourself in a positive way. We hope that you will enjoy the game and support the students in a positive and sportsmanlike manner. Go  Warriors!
