Volleyball

Dear McCormick Parents and Guardians,
My name is Jodi Bryant; I am the head volleyball coach at McCormick. I have been teaching in the district for 21 years and have coached all levels of volleyball over the last 20+ years. I am so excited about our upcoming season and getting to know all our amazing athletes. Our season starts on Monday August 17th, so make sure you have completed the activity code and the district insurance form, and an updated physical, so your daughter can practice on the first day. You can sign your daughter up for volleyball on the McCormick website, and the activity code and insurance are there too. Practice will be 3:00pm-4:30pm for 7th grade and 4:30-6:00 for 8th grade
It is important for your child to attend practice; however, we realize absences will occur. If your child is going to be gone or misses practice, please let someone from the coaching staff know. Our mission as coaches is to teach skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and proper behavior and attitude. The players are responsible for effort, positive attitudes, commitment, and sportsmanship. During our first couple of weeks of practice, we will work on skill development and fundamentals and towards higher level play. Some of my goals for our program are to provide the opportunity for growth and development, to ensure each athlete is exposed to a high level of skill in volleyball, to provide a social setting for teamwork, cooperation, and sportsmanship, and to expose players to competitive situations that will be remembered though their lives as a positive and rewarding experience.
What physical things do you need to play volleyball at McCormick?
Comfortable and appropriate practice clothing
T-shirt (no tank tops), shorts, spandex that go to thigh (leggings fine too); socks; athletic shoes; knee pads recommended; hair tied back; sturdy water bottle that won’t leak (must close, ABSOLUTLEY NO STANTLEY CUPS).
Bring a small bag to collect personal items but leave valuables at home.
As we get closer to the season, I will be sending out more information about practice times and game schedules.
I look forward to our upcoming season with our outstanding athletes.
